A cracked, patchy garage full of built-in cabinets and shelving in Woodinville, ground, repaired and coated in Slate Stone flake polyurea in December 2024.

This Woodinville garage works hard. Wood cabinets and open shelving line the walls, boxes and supplies fill every shelf, and a long side room runs off the main space like a workroom. The floor under all of it was in rough shape. Long cracks crossed the slab, old coating patches clung on in spots, and the concrete was dark and blotchy where water and traffic had worn it down.
In December 2024 Cascade gave the whole space a garage floor coating in Woodinville with Certified Penntek polyurea in Slate Stone flake. Cracks repaired, old patches ground away, and one even floor from the main garage into the workroom.
The free consultation came in October 2024. A few things stood out:
The cabinets and shelving stayed where they were. The crew ground and coated right up to the cabinet bases and posts, then carried the flake a few inches up the walls as a cove base so the edges look finished. The work ran over two days in early December 2024 because of the size of the space and all those edges.
Our post on what the Penntek installation process is like goes deeper on each step.
Slate Stone Evolution is a cool blend of gray, white and charcoal chips. Against the honey-colored wood cabinets and cream walls, it gives the room a clean base without fighting the warm tones. It also hides dust and the odd dropped screw, which matters in a room used as a workshop.
A slab with this many cracks is a slab that moves. Seasonal temperature swings open and close those lines a little every year. Rigid coatings tend to crack right along with them.
The Penntek basecoat is flexible. It stretches with the concrete instead of snapping. You can see that in the Penntek Stretch Test. Combined with a chemical bond of over 1,300 PSI, it is why Penntek backs the floor with a limited lifetime warranty, registered on every job.
Lots of garages in and around Woodinville do double duty as storage, shop and hobby space. Many were built decades ago and have the cracks to show for it. A sealed, flexible floor makes those rooms easier to keep clean and nicer to spend time in. You can see more Woodinville garage floor coatings on our homepage, or compare with a newer Woodinville garage finished in Tidal Wave.
No. Fixed cabinets and shelving can stay, and the crew coats up to them. Anything sitting on the floor needs to come out so the whole slab can be ground and coated.
Yes. Every crack is cleaned out and filled with Penntek Mender before the basecoat. Coating over an open crack just leaves a line in the new floor.
Yes, as long as it is the same concrete slab. This job ran from the main garage straight into the side room with the same flake, so the two spaces read as one floor.
