Hunts Point Garage Floor Coating

In a garage this well organized, the floor has one job: don't get in the way. This Hunts Point garage has floor-to-ceiling maple cabinets, a full slatwall of power tools and bikes, a frosted glass garage door and water treatment tanks tucked in the corner. Everything was built with care. The concrete under it was plain grey, scuffed and stained, with a threshold that had rotted and pulled loose at one door.

The homeowner wanted a floor that matched the rest of the room without stealing the show. In March 2026 Cascade installed a garage floor coating in Hunts Point using Certified Penntek polyurea in Limestone, a light hybrid flake blend chosen to sit quietly next to the maple.

What the consult turned up

The free consultation was in February 2026. The crew metered the slab and got 4.1% in one area and 4.5% in another, and they ran a scratch test on the surface. Cascade tests every slab before a quote.

A few details shaped the plan:

Cabinet bases and slatwall panels that sit right on the floor, so edges had to be clean.
A failing threshold at the side door with a crack running out from it.
Plumbing and water treatment equipment along one wall that the coating had to work around.
Stains and scuffs in the parking area, plus the dark band left by an old mat.

How the floor went in

Installation was on March 31, 2026. The glass garage door was masked in plastic and tape, and the tanks were wrapped. The steps:

Industrial diamond grinding of the full slab and around every cabinet base, then vacuuming.
Penntek Mender crack repair at the threshold crack.
Pure polyurea basecoat, over 99% solids.
Full broadcast of Limestone hybrid flake, then scrape and collect.
Polyaspartic topcoat with FadeLock™ UV stability.

Why Limestone fits a maple garage

Limestone is a soft, light blend of cream, tan and grey in Penntek's Hybrid Terrazzo Flake System. It has a terrazzo-like look that reads closer to stone than to speckle. A floor for a finished garage

When a garage is built out this well, the floor has to last as long as the cabinets. A few reasons this one will:

It won't yellow. FadeLock™ in the topcoat passed a 16-hour QUV accelerated UV test. Light floors show yellowing first, and a glass garage door lets daylight in.
It cleans up. The polyaspartic topcoat is non-porous, so oil, grime and tracked-in water wipe away. The Penntek Stain Test shows it.
It stays put. The basecoat chemically bonds to the concrete at over 1,300 PSI. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up.
