A modern Kirkland garage with a trench drain and a cracked, paint-spattered slab got a Tidal Wave flake polyurea floor with a coved edge in one day.

This Kirkland garage was built with water in mind. A trench drain runs across the entry where the paver driveway meets the slab, and inside the room is clean and modern: white walls, tall black doors and a single electrical panel. The floor was the unfinished part. Pale concrete covered in drywall mud and paint spatter, a long crack curving across the middle, and the dull grey look of a slab nobody had protected yet.
In April 2025 our crew installed a garage floor coating in Kirkland with Certified Penntek polyurea in Tidal Wave flake, with a coved edge that curves up the base of the walls. One day, and the floor now looks as finished as the rest of the house.
The free consultation was in early April 2025. Moisture read 5.1% at the spot we tested. Cascade measures every slab, because the reading shapes how the floor gets installed. Besides the crack, the surface had drywall mud, paint drips, scuffs and a slick trowel finish that needed to be opened up.
A week later the crew came back and did the full system in one visit:
The coating stops crisply at the trench drain, so water from the driveway still runs where it is supposed to.
Tidal Wave Evolution is a cool blend of light grey, white, slate and navy-blue chips. Against white walls and black doors it looks sharp and a little nautical, which suits a lake town like Kirkland. It hides dust and tire grit well without reading dark.
The cove is the detail people notice. Instead of a hard 90° corner where floor meets wall, the coating curves up a few inches. Dirt has no corner to collect in, mop water stays off the drywall, and the whole room looks built-in.
A lot of floors in new homes get a quick epoxy coat. It looks good at the open house and often starts peeling or yellowing in years 3–5. Certified Penntek polyurea is built for 30–40 years.
Kirkland gets a lot of rain from fall through spring, and a garage that faces the driveway takes the brunt of it. Trench drains help, but the slab inside still sees wet tires and dripping cars for months. Our article on rainy weather and moisture testing explains why we test before every job.
See how we work across town on our Kirkland garage floor coatings page, or look at a Kirkland garage we did in Slate Stone for a softer grey.
A cove base is where the coating curves up from the floor onto the bottom of the wall instead of stopping in a sharp corner. It seals the joint between wall and floor, keeps water off the drywall and makes the edges easy to clean.
Yes. The crew grinds and coats right up to the edge of the drain and finishes it with a clean line. The drain stays fully open, and water runs off the coated slab into it.
Often, yes. New slabs shrink as they cure, and cracks are common in the first few years. Each crack is filled and ground flush before the basecoat, and the flexible polyurea moves with the slab afterward.
