A Mercer Island garage got a Mount Everest flake polyurea floor in one day. When the slab cracked that winter, the crew came back and blended the repair in.
A newer house still has an unfinished garage floor. This Mercer Island two-car garage had clean white walls, a wall-mounted shop vac, an electric car parked inside and plain gray concrete with saw-cut control joints, light staining and a few rough patches. The homeowner wanted a floor that matched the rest of the house and would stay easy to clean for the long haul.
In November 2025 our crew installed a garage floor coating on Mercer Island with Certified Penntek polyurea in Mount Everest flake. Then, when the slab developed a new crack that winter, the crew came back to repair it. Both visits are part of this story.
We did the free consultation in August 2025, with the car still in its spot. The moisture meter read 4.3%. Newer slabs can still be curing and moving, so we look at moisture, control joints and any early cracks on every job, not just older floors.
This one looked straightforward: sound concrete, a few surface stains, and control joints that would need to be carried through the coating so the slab could keep moving along them.
Install day was early November 2025. The whole floor was ground and finished the same day.
The crew taped off the door tracks and the threshold so the edges finished clean.
Concrete keeps moving after it is poured, and sometimes a slab cracks in a new spot. In January 2026 a thin crack showed up across part of this floor. The crew came back, taped out the line, repaired it and blended it back into the flake. By the end of February the repair was hard to find.

Mount Everest Evolution is a light blend of white, gray and soft tan chips. Against white walls and trim it keeps the garage bright and makes it feel like part of the house. It is also forgiving. Electric cars are heavy, and parked tires sit in the same place for hours. On typical epoxy that is where hot tire pickup and peeling start, often in years 3–5. The Penntek polyaspartic topcoat resists hot tire pickup, and the basecoat bonds to the concrete at over 1,300 PSI. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up.
