A cracked, mossy Seattle porch, patio and curving walkway, repaired and coated as one continuous Flint flake surface with Certified Penntek polyurea.
Behind this Seattle home the garden does most of the talking. Flower beds and potted plants line every edge, a stone chimney anchors one corner, and a long walkway curves around the house past the lawn. The concrete was the one part that had stopped keeping up. Cracks ran through several slab sections, and moss and green algae had settled into the joints and the shady stretches that never quite dry out.
The homeowner wanted the porch, patio and walkway to look like they belonged with the garden again. In July 2026 Cascade finished a patio and walkway coating in Seattle with Certified Penntek polyurea in Flint flake, one continuous surface from the covered porch to the far end of the path.
The free consultation was in February 2026, the wettest stretch of the year and a good time to see a slab at its worst. We ran a scratch test for hardness and put a moisture meter down in a couple of spots. It read 3.4% next to one of the cracks and 3.7% on a green patch of the walkway. Cascade tests every slab this way before quoting, because moisture is what decides whether a coating stays put.

The porch, patio and walkway were coated as one system, so the old section lines no longer break up the space.
Flint Enviroflake is a warm mix of tan, grey and cream chips with some darker flake scattered through. Outdoors it looks closer to natural stone than to a painted floor, and it sits comfortably next to the chimney stonework and the dark siding. It also hides what a garden throws at it: soil from potting, fallen petals, and dried water spots after the sprinklers run.
A patio takes more abuse than a garage. Sun in July, standing water in November, and the slab moving a little with every cold snap. Rigid coatings tend to crack along with the concrete. The Penntek basecoat is flexible and moves with the slab through freeze-thaw, which you can watch in the Penntek Stretch Test.
The bond matters too. The polyurea forms a chemical bond with the ground concrete, with a silane adhesion promoter and over 1,300 PSI of bond strength. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up. On top, the polyaspartic topcoat is non-porous, so rain and dirt sit on the surface and rinse off with a hose instead of soaking in. FadeLock™ keeps the color from yellowing in the sun, and the flake itself is UV stable.

Seattle's wet months are long, and older lots with big trees and deep shade keep concrete damp from fall to spring. That is where moss gets its start. Pressure washing buys a few months.
