A Mount Vernon front porch with cracked stamped concrete and a long weathered walkway, ground flat and coated in light Quartzite flake polyurea.

Stamped concrete looks great the year it's poured. Give it a decade of Skagit Valley weather and it tells a different story. At this Mount Vernon home, the covered front porch had a faded stamped pattern with cracks spreading out from the porch posts, and the long walkway beside the driveway was grey, weathered and edged by a trench drain and a block retaining wall.
The homeowner wanted the entry to look as sharp as the house. In summer 2025 our crew finished a porch and walkway coating in Mount Vernon with Certified Penntek polyurea in Quartzite, a light terrazzo-style flake that brightens the whole front of the home.
The consultation was in June 2025. The moisture meter read 4.3% on the porch. A few things stood out on the walk-through:
Stamped texture is hard to clean and almost impossible to reseal evenly once it starts to wear. Grinding it flat gives the coating a clean, consistent surface to bond to.
This was an outdoor job across several visits in late July and early August 2025, working around weather and the home's front door access.
The coating stops crisply at the exposed aggregate driveway, the trench drain and the gravel edge, so each surface keeps its own look. Read more about our walkway floor coatings.
Quartzite is part of the Hybrid Terrazzo Flake System. It's a fine, light blend of white, grey and soft black that reads almost like polished stone from a few feet away. Next to the blue-grey siding, cream trim and red accent panels by the door, it makes the entry pop without fighting the house colors.

Outdoor concrete goes through freeze-thaw every winter, and sun beats on it every summer. A rigid coating cracks with the slab. The Penntek basecoat stays flexible and moves with it. See it in the Penntek Stretch Test.
FadeLock™ in the topcoat passed a 16-hour QUV accelerated UV test, and the flake is UV stable, so Quartzite won't yellow or amber in the sun. People also ask about wet weather. The flake broadcast leaves a fine texture under the topcoat that helps underfoot. Our post on whether coated floors are slippery covers it.
Mount Vernon sits in the Skagit Valley, where wet winters, river fog and the odd freeze are part of life. Front entries take the brunt of it. A sealed, non-porous surface keeps moss, dirt and water from settling into the concrete. For more ideas, read about coating patios, walkways and more.

Yes. We diamond grind the stamped texture down so the coating bonds to sound concrete. The result is a smooth, even flake finish instead of a faded pattern.
The crew coats up to the drain edge and keeps the grate clear, so water still flows away from the walk.
Yes. Quartzite's flake is UV stable and the FadeLock™ topcoat won't yellow, so a light color stays light. It also hides pollen and dust better than you'd expect.
