A Lake Stevens garage turned gym and office got a glossy solid Medium Grey polyurea floor, followed by flake coatings on the outdoor concrete.

This Lake Stevens garage isn't really a garage anymore. There are two exercise bikes on a mat, a desk and chair, a wall-mounted TV, grey cabinets with a wood counter, a carpeted stair up into the house, and an American flag on the wall. The owners wanted a floor that looked like it belonged in a finished room, not a parking spot.
In September 2025 our crew installed a garage floor coating in Lake Stevens with Certified Penntek polyurea in solid Medium Grey. The result is a glossy, uniform surface that reflects the ceiling lights like a showroom. The outdoor concrete leading up to the garage doors was coated in later phases.
The first visit was in May 2025. Part of the floor still had an old dark coating on it, peeling at the edges, while the rest was bare concrete with a rough, pitted surface. That kind of patchwork is common in garages that have had a DIY coat or a sealer at some point.
We took moisture readings and looked at flake and solid color samples on the ground slab. The owners chose a solid color for the inside, which fits the clean, finished look of a gym and office space.
The interior was coated in early September 2025, over more than one day:
Solid color floors leave nowhere to hide, so prep and even application matter more than they do under a full flake broadcast.
Medium Grey is a plain, true grey with no flake. Next to grey cabinets, white walls and warm wood trim, it gives the space a calm, finished look. The high gloss bounces light around the room and makes it feel bigger. The rubber mat under the bikes sits right on top, and spilled water or sweat wipes off the non-porous topcoat.
Medium Grey doesn't have a color page on our site yet. You can see our other solid colors and flake blends on the styles and colors page.
Once the inside was done, the owners had us coat the concrete outside the garage too. Later in September 2025 the crew ground and coated the strip running along the brick wall and garden beds up to the garage doors in a grey flake finish. More of the outdoor slab followed in 2026.
Outdoor concrete takes rain, sun and freeze-thaw all year. The Penntek basecoat is flexible, the flake is UV stable, and FadeLock™ keeps the topcoat from yellowing in direct sun. Our post on coating basements, patios and driveways covers what changes outdoors.
A garage gym gets dropped weights, rolling equipment and constant foot traffic. Typical epoxy is brittle and can chip under impact. The polyurea basecoat bonds to the concrete at over 1,300 PSI, and before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up. See it in the Penntek Hammer Test. Lake Stevens homes often have room to spread out: big garages, long driveways and open lots near the lake and the foothills. That makes phased projects like this one practical. Start inside, then move outdoors when the time is right.

It can be. A solid color looks clean and modern, works well under rubber mats, and wipes up easily. It shows dust a bit more than a flake blend, so it suits a space that gets cleaned regularly.
Yes. Many projects start with the garage and add outdoor areas later. Each phase gets its own grind, basecoat and topcoat, and the warranty is registered for the work done.
It gets ground off. A new coating can only hold as well as what's under it, so the crew removes old coatings and sealers down to clean concrete before the basecoat goes on.
