An Organized Redmond Garage Finally Gets a Floor to Match

A tidy Redmond garage with built-in cabinets and dark tire tracks got a Pebble Beach flake polyurea floor in one July day, cabinets left in place.

Pebble Beach flake polyurea floor with workbench and shelving in a Redmond garage

This garage was already organized. White cabinets with a built-in workbench, tall cubby shelving, a pegboard wall and room for more than one car. The only thing that didn't fit was the floor. Dark tire tracks ran from the door to each parking spot, and the bare concrete had gone blotchy and dusty around everything else.

On a single day in July 2025 Cascade's crew coated it in Certified Penntek polyurea with Pebble Beach flake. It is a garage floor coating in Redmond that finally matches the rest of the room, with the cabinets and shelving left in place.

A good slab with bad tracks

The free consultation was in April 2025, with a car still parked inside. The meter read 4.3% for moisture. A scratch test showed fine crazing on the surface, the shallow cracking you see on a lot of older slabs. The real eyesore was the staining. Years of parking had left wide dark lanes where the tires roll in and out.

Those tracks are partly rubber and partly oil and road film that soaked into porous concrete. Scrubbing won't get them out. Grinding will.

How the day went

  1. Industrial diamond grinding across the whole floor to cut out the tracks and open the surface. Then vacuum.
  2. Pure polyurea basecoat, over 99% solids, rolled out between the posts and right up to the cabinet toe kicks.
  3. Full broadcast of Pebble Beach flake, including a short strip up the wall base.
  4. Scrape and collect the loose flake.
  5. Polyaspartic topcoat with FadeLock™ UV stability.

The built-in cabinets and shelving stayed where they were. The crew coated around their bases and the support posts, so nothing had to be torn out to get a full floor.

Pebble Beach with white cabinets

Pebble Beach Evolution is a warm mix of tan, brown, grey and white chips. With white cabinets and cream walls it looks soft and finished, a little like natural stone. It is also good at hiding the light dust and tire grit that every garage floor collects.

Built for warm tires and real use

Hot tire pickup is when warm tires soften a weak coating and pull it off the floor. It is one of the classic ways a DIY epoxy kit fails, and the summer months are when it shows up. The Penntek polyaspartic topcoat is built to resist it. Our post on preventing hot tire pickup explains why.

Under that, the basecoat bonds chemically to the concrete at over 1,300 PSI and flexes with the slab. Penntek floors are rated for 30–40 years, up to 5x the lifespan of typical epoxy. You can see the floor shrug off fluids in the Penntek Stain Test.

Summer garage coatings in Redmond

Redmond's dry summer stretch is an easy time to tackle a garage. Warm weather makes it easy to empty the space for a day, and the crew can work with the big door open. The coating itself handles the rest of the year, from wet winter cars to the occasional icy week.

Questions about coating a finished garage

Do I need to move my garage cabinets before the floor is coated?

Not if they are built in. The crew grinds and coats around fixed cabinets, posts and shelving. Loose items, tools and cars need to be out for the day.

Can hot tires lift a garage floor coating?

They can lift a weak one. The Penntek polyaspartic topcoat resists hot tire pickup, and the basecoat is bonded chemically to the concrete.

Is summer a good time to coat a garage in Redmond?

Summer is easy because the space is simple to empty, but we install all year. Every slab gets a moisture test first, whatever the season.
