An Everett service shop with blue lifts and oil-stained concrete got a solid Dark Grey Certified Penntek polyurea floor over New Year's week.

Performance shops live on their floors. Cars come in on lifts, go up on scissor racks, drip fluids and leave again, all day. This Everett service shop runs a long open bay under wood trusses, with a row of blue two-post lifts on one side and a red scissor lift at the back. The concrete underneath was stained grey-black, with tire tracks and oil worked deep into the surface.
The owner wanted a clean, professional floor without turning the bay into a flake pattern. The answer was a commercial floor coating in Everett in solid Dark Grey Certified Penntek polyurea, installed over the New Year's week of 2024 into 2025.
We tested the slab in October 2024. The moisture meter read 4.3% in one spot and 3.9% in another. The concrete itself was solid, but the surface told the story of a working shop:
Commercial work gets scheduled around the business. This one ran from the last days of December 2024 into the first days of January 2025.
The lifts stayed in place. The coating goes around and under what it can reach, so the floor looks finished at every post.
Most of our garage floors get a flake broadcast. Shops are different. A solid color makes it easy to spot a dropped bolt or a fresh leak under a car, and it gives a crisp, bright look under shop lighting. Dark Grey hides tire marks and everyday grime better than a light grey, while still bouncing plenty of light around the bay.
It also looks sharp with the blue lifts, red scissor rack and grey walls. Customers walking in see a shop that takes care of its space.
We stopped back in January 2026, about a year after install. The floor was still glossy across the bay, with the lifts in daily use. That's the point of a polyurea system in a shop. Hot tires don't lift the topcoat the way they can with typical epoxy. Our post on preventing hot tire pickup explains why.
Fluids are the other big test. The polyaspartic topcoat is non-porous, so oil, gas and grease sit on top and wipe off. Watch the Penntek Stain Test to see it with real chemicals, or see more on our demo page.
The bond is over 1,300 PSI. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up. And the floor is backed by Penntek, with dealers in 200 markets.
Everett has a long working history, from the waterfront to the industrial areas off the freeway, and plenty of auto, marine and fabrication shops still run on bare concrete. Wet winters mean cars track water and road grime in for months. A sealed, non-porous floor stops it from soaking in.
See our page on commercial and garage floor coatings in Everett, our commercial projects, or another Everett auto shop we coated in Light Grey. Business owners comparing options should read commercial vs. residential coatings.
Many shops prefer solid. It makes dropped parts and new leaks easy to see and gives a clean, bright look. Flake hides more dirt, so it suits customer areas and home garages.
Yes. This shop was coated across the New Year's week. We schedule commercial jobs around the business and plan the work in sections when needed.
Wipe up spills, then sweep and mop or use an auto scrubber. The non-porous topcoat keeps oil and fluids on the surface, so they come up instead of staining.
