Oil spots on top and long cracks underneath. This Snohomish garage got crack repair and a Tidal Wave flake polyurea floor in one November day.

This Snohomish garage already had good bones. Black cabinets along one wall, wood storage on the other, a small wood sauna tucked in the back corner and a couple of bikes parked near the door. The floor was the part that didn't fit. Bare grey concrete, dark oil spots near the entry and a rubber mat covering the worst of it.
In November 2024 our crew put down a garage floor coating in Snohomish with Certified Penntek polyurea in Tidal Wave flake. One day of work. The oil spots, the cracks and the dull grey are all gone, and the garage finally looks as finished as the stuff inside it.
The free consultation came in October 2024. A moisture meter on the bare slab read 4.5%. We test every slab before we quote it, because moisture pushing up through concrete is one of the main reasons garage coatings let go in western Washington.
The oil stains were easy to see. The cracks were not. Once the crew ground the surface on install day, a set of long cracks showed up running out across the slab in several directions, the kind of lines that hide under dirt and a mat for years. Paint or a thin kit coating would have bridged right over them and split along the same lines within a season or two.
Everything happened on one day in late November:
By evening the filled cracks had disappeared under the flake and the whole garage read as one even floor.
Tidal Wave Evolution is a mix of white, light grey and black chips. From across the garage it reads as a soft light grey, which keeps the white walls and ceiling feeling bright. Up close you see the darker chips, and those are what hide bike tire marks, sawdust and the grit that comes in on shoes.
It also sits well next to both the black cabinets and the warm wood of the sauna, so neither one looks out of place.
Concrete keeps moving after it cracks. It swells and shrinks with temperature and goes through freeze-thaw every winter. Rigid epoxy can't follow that movement, which is part of why typical epoxy floors start to show problems in years 3–5. The Penntek basecoat is flexible. It stretches with the slab instead of snapping along the crack line. The Penntek Stretch Test shows it better than we can describe it.
The other half is the bond. Penntek polyurea bonds chemically with the concrete at over 1,300 PSI. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up. That is a big reason Penntek floors are built for up to 5x the lifespan of typical epoxy. More side-by-side tests are on our durability demo page.
Snohomish sits down in the river valley, and by November the ground is soaked and the air is cold. People often assume a coating has to wait for summer. It doesn't, as long as the slab is tested and the products are made for it. Polyurea cures fast in cool temperatures, which is why this one went in the week of Thanksgiving. Our post on coating concrete in the winter covers what changes and what doesn't.
Snohomish homes are served by the same owner-led crew that handles our garage floor coatings in Everett, just up the road. For an outdoor job in the same town, see this Snohomish walkway, patio and fire pit pad.
Yes. This one was installed in late November 2024. Cascade checks slab moisture and temperature before starting, and logs the readings for the Penntek warranty. Very cold or wet days can shift the schedule, and the crew will tell you before they start.
Not if they are repaired and covered with a flexible system. The crew fills each crack with Penntek Mender crack repair after grinding, then the flexible polyurea basecoat goes over it and moves with the slab. Rigid coatings are the ones that tend to crack back along old lines.
Diamond grinding takes off the stained top layer of the concrete and opens up the surface for the basecoat to bond. Heavily soaked areas get a closer look at the consultation. Once the polyaspartic topcoat is down, new oil drips wipe up instead of soaking in.
