A Seattle home coated in stages: Slate Stone flake in a narrow garage and tiled back room in December, then a 300 sq ft garage in Tidal Wave in May.

Not every floor gets done in one visit. This Seattle homeowner started with one space, liked the result, and came back for more. Over about six months, Cascade coated a long, narrow garage with a trench drain at the door, a back room that still had old black tile on the floor, and a second 300 square foot garage area. Two of the floors went in Slate Stone. The last one went in Tidal Wave.
It is a good look at how a garage floor coating in Seattle works in two very different seasons: a 45°F December day and a 75°F day in late May.
The first consultation was in November 2024. The moisture meter read 4.1% on the bare garage slab, and the crew checked the concrete's hardness with a scratch test. Cascade tests every slab before quoting, rain or shine.
The spaces had their own problems:
In early December 2024 the crew ground the old tile and adhesive out of the back room down to bare concrete and coated it. The long garage followed on December 19. The Penntek warranty job card for that day lists 300 square feet, the concrete in OK condition, and air at 45°F.
The sequence was the same in each space:
Winter installs are normal here. The crew reads air and slab conditions on install day, adjusts the plan, and logs the numbers for the Penntek warranty registration. Our post on coating concrete in the winter goes into it.
The homeowner came back in May 2025 for another 300 square foot garage space. That slab was rated in good condition, the air was 75°F, and this time the flake was Tidal Wave.
Slate Stone is a light blend of white, grey and black chips that brightens a narrow room. Tidal Wave adds blue-grey tones to that palette. Side by side, the two floors look related without being identical, a nice way to give each space its own feel.
These spaces get real use. Extension cords and tools hang on the walls, and the garage door opens straight onto the driveway. Three things matter most here:
Each floor was registered with Penntek under its limited lifetime warranty. More durability tests are on our demo page.
Older Seattle homes often have more concrete than people think about: a garage, a back room, a shop space or a basement. They don't all need to be done at once. Start with the space that bugs you most and add the rest when it suits you. Each floor gets its own test, prep and warranty registration.

Yes. Each space is tested, prepped and coated on its own schedule, and each gets its own Penntek warranty registration. This Seattle home did exactly that over about six months.
We take it off. Tile and its adhesive are ground away until we reach bare concrete, because the polyurea needs to bond with the slab itself, not with whatever was glued on top.
Yes. This garage was coated on a 45°F day in December. The crew checks air and slab conditions on install day and logs them for the warranty.
