One bay of this Marysville garage had become a den with a recliner and a rug on bare concrete. Now it has a Smoke flake polyurea floor.

Some garages stop being garages. In this Marysville home, one bay had become a den, with a recliner, a rug laid over bare concrete, wood dressers, a world map on the wall and a fish mounted by the window. It's a room people actually spend time in. The floor just hadn't caught up.
The homeowner wanted something better than a rug on cold concrete, but still tough enough for a garage. In September 2024 our crew put down a garage floor coating in Marysville using Certified Penntek polyurea in Smoke flake. One day of work, and the room finally had a real floor.
The consultation was in early September 2024. Nicole laid out a row of flake samples right on the concrete, next to the furniture and under the room's own light. That's the best way to choose. A color that looks right on a website can look very different next to your walls and your stuff.
The moisture meter read 3.5% and 3.6%. The slab was in solid shape, with light staining and the marks you'd expect from furniture and foot traffic. A threshold at the interior door led into the house.
The crew came back on September 23, 2024, after the room was cleared out. The work, in order:
The coating stops cleanly at the threshold to the house and runs out to the garage door opening.
Smoke Evolution blends black, charcoal, grey and white chips. In a room with cream walls, white trim and warm wood furniture, it gives the floor some weight without making the space feel dark. And when the room goes back to being a garage on a rainy day, Smoke hides wet tracks and dust easily.
If you're stuck between colors, our post on how to choose a color and finish walks through the main questions.
A garage room still takes garage abuse. Furniture gets dragged, tools get dropped, and the door opens to the weather. The Penntek basecoat is flexible, so it takes impact without chipping. Watch the Penntek Hammer Test to see it.
The polyaspartic topcoat is non-porous. Spilled coffee, muddy boots and oil from a project all wipe off. The bond is chemical, at over 1,300 PSI, so it won't peel the way typical epoxy can after a few years. Every floor carries a limited lifetime warranty backed by Penntek.
Marysville homes in the newer neighborhoods often have big garages, and a lot of families turn one bay into a hobby room, gym or den. In the wet Snohomish County climate, a coated floor keeps that space cleaner and drier underfoot than bare concrete. For ideas, see our post on multi-purpose garage spaces.

Yes. We clear the room, grind and coat in a day, and the furniture can go back once the floor is ready. The crew will tell you the exact timing before they leave.
Yes. We bring physical samples to the free consultation and lay them on your floor, so you see them under your own lighting next to your walls.
It's still a hard floor, but it's sealed, easy to clean and has a light texture from the flake. Many people add a rug in seating areas, and it lifts right up for cleaning.
