Old flooring, adhesive and hidden cracks came off this Duvall one-car garage slab before a Domino flake Penntek polyurea floor went down in one day.

Some garages have been something else before. This single-car garage in Duvall had at some point been finished like a room, with wall paneling and an old floor covering glued straight to the concrete. By the time Cascade arrived, most of that flooring was gone, but squares of it, patches of adhesive and torn backing were still stuck all over the slab. A water heater and furnace sat in one corner, and the garage door opened onto a long, narrow bay.
In September 2024 the crew cleared it to bare concrete and installed a garage floor coating in Duvall with Certified Penntek polyurea in Domino flake. Start to finish, it took one day.
Old flooring is one of the harder starting points. Adhesive and backing have to come off completely, because a coating that bonds to glue is only as strong as the glue. The crew scraped the loose pieces first, then went at the rest with the diamond grinder.
Under the old flooring, the concrete told its own story. Once it was ground clean, a set of long cracks showed up running across the slab, along with pits and small damaged spots that had been hidden for years.
If you want to know how a day like this runs, our post on what to expect on installation day walks through it.
Domino Evolution is a mix of black, white and grey chips. In a long, narrow bay it gives the floor some depth without making the room feel smaller. It hides the dust that collects around a furnace and the gravel that comes in off the driveway. With the cream walls and dark brown trim, it reads clean and a little classic.
When a floor has old adhesive, cracks and pits, the easy move is paint or a kit coating over the top. Those tend to fail first at the cracks and at any spot where residue was left behind. A Penntek floor starts with grinding to bare concrete, so there's nothing between the slab and the basecoat.
That basecoat bonds chemically at over 1,300 PSI. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up. It is also flexible, so it moves with the repaired cracks instead of splitting along them. The Penntek Hammer Test shows the coating taking direct hits. The polyaspartic topcoat resists hot tire pickup and wipes clean.
A one-car garage like this one often does double duty as storage, parking and mechanical room. A small garage gets the same system as a big one: moisture and hardness testing at the free consultation, full prep, and a limited lifetime warranty backed by Penntek. Penntek has dealers in 200 markets, so the floor can be serviced long term.

Yes, once it's removed. On this Duvall job the crew scraped the loose flooring and ground off the adhesive the same day. The coating has to bond to clean concrete, never to old glue.
Small garages often get the hardest use per square foot, with a car, storage and mechanical equipment all packed in. The system and warranty are the same as on a large garage, and the install usually fits in one day.
Yes. The crew grinds and coats right up to the base of fixed equipment and around the stands. The flake and topcoat run tight to the edges so dust has nowhere to settle.
