A large Bellevue garage with a full wall of black cabinets got a Smoke flake Certified Penntek polyurea floor that ties the room together.

This Bellevue garage is built for storage. A full wall of black and silver cabinets runs nearly the length of the room, with a workbench in the middle and more cabinets by the house door. The cabinets were already in when we arrived. What the room still needed was a floor that matched them.
The homeowner chose Smoke flake in Certified Penntek polyurea. In January 2025 our crew finished a garage floor coating in Bellevue that ties the black cabinets, white walls and bright overhead lights into one clean space.
The consult was in November 2024. The moisture meter read 4.4% on the bare concrete. The slab was large and open, with plain grey concrete, a few scuffs and some faint staining near the walls.
With cabinets on leveling legs already in place, the plan had to account for working underneath and around them. The crew ground and coated right up to the cabinet line so the floor looks continuous from every angle.
This job ran in stages over January 2025 instead of a single day. Here is the order the work followed:
At the big garage door, the coating wraps down over the slab edge, so there is no raw concrete lip where the floor meets the driveway. The installation page shows the full Penntek process.
Smoke Evolution is a mix of black, charcoal, mid grey and white chips. Up close it has real contrast. From across the room it reads as a medium grey that picks up the black of the cabinets and the white of the walls at the same time.
That balance matters in a room this size. A floor that was too light would look washed out next to dark cabinetry. One that was too dark would make the room feel smaller. Smoke lands in the middle and hides tire marks and dust well.
A garage like this is an investment, and the floor under it should last as long as everything on top. The Penntek basecoat bonds chemically with the concrete at over 1,300 PSI. Before the coating comes up, the concrete will come up.
The polyaspartic topcoat keeps it easy to clean, with hot tire pickup resistance and a non-porous surface that shrugs off oil, salt and grease. Our guide on how long a Penntek floor lasts covers the 30–40 year lifespan and why typical epoxy often fails in years 3–5. Or see a homeowner talk about it in this Penntek customer video.
Every floor is registered with Penntek and carries a limited lifetime warranty backed by the manufacturer.
Lots of Bellevue garages pull double duty as storage rooms, workshops or hobby spaces. When cabinets go in, the floor becomes the biggest visible surface left. Coating it makes the whole room look finished. For more ideas, see our post on multi-purpose garages.
We've coated a range of floors in the city. See our page for garage floor coating in Bellevue, or look at a Bellevue event space finished in Silver Creek.
Often, yes. Cabinets on legs, like these, let the crew grind and coat underneath and right to the wall. Cabinets sitting flat on the slab are coated up to their edge.
Mid-tone blends with black and white chips, like Smoke, tie dark cabinets to light walls. We bring physical samples to the consult so you can hold them next to your cabinets.
The coating is carried down over the slab edge at the door opening. That gives a clean finished edge instead of a strip of raw concrete.
